Video Games
1990: Apogee Software releases Episode one of the Commander Keen in Invasion of the Vorticons game for personal computers, as shareware. The 2nd and 3rd episodes have to be paid for.
1993: Nintendo releases the Fire Emblem video game for the Super Famicom in Japan, the first 24-Megabit cartridge.
1998: Mattel completes its acquisition of The Learning Company for US$3.6 billion.
1999: Sega of America and Excite@Home announce a partnership to build Sega's Dreamcast Network, an Internet gaming portal.
2001: Panasonic releases the SLGC-10 video game system in Japan. The system, also known as "Q", is a special GameCube which can play audio/video CD/DVD discs. Price is 39,800 yen (about US$305).
2001: In Australia, the government bans the sale of Grand Theft Auto III in the country. The Office of Film and Literature Classification refused to rate the game due to its graphic violence.

2001: Capcom releases the Resident Evil Gaiden video game for the Game Boy Color in the US.
2003: The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show in the US. At a shopping mall, a child plays an educational video game where the players blast the state capitals on a map of the USA.

Best Soundtrack: Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Best Performance by a Human Male: Samuel L. Jackson in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. Best First-Person Action Game: Halo 2. Designer of the Year: Jason Jones and Bungie Studios (Halo 2). Best Performance by a Human Female: Brooke Burke in Need for Speed Underground 2. Best Driving Game: Burnout 3: Takedown. Best Song: "American Idiot" by Green Day in Madden NFL 2005. Best Fighting Game: Mortal Kombat: Deception. Hottest Video CyberVixen: BloodRayne in BloodRayne 2.
