1989: COMDEX is held in Las Vegas, Nevada, over five days.
1989: At the fall COMDEX show, IBM strongly endorses Microsoft Windows for low end PCs, and Microsoft publicly endorses OS/2 as the future platform for higher-end PCs. IBM and Microsoft agree to jointly develop a consistent, full-range of systems software.

1989: US District Court Judge Fern Smith rules Nintendo owned rights to Tetris, not Tengen (Atari Games).

1998: Be announces BeOS Release 4 operating system, for Intel and PowerPC processor-based computers. The new release is better integrated with Windows files amd keyboard shortcuts. Release is set for December, with online purchase price US$69.95, or retail price US$99.95.
2000: Intel releases the 733 and 766 MHz Celeron processors. Prices are US$112 and US$170 each in 1000-unit quantities.
2001: Palm buys Be's assets for $11 million in stock.
2001: Konami releases the Metal Gear Solid 2 video game for the PlayStation 2 in the US.
2003: Sony drops the price of the PlayStation 2 in Japan to 19,800 yen (about US$180).
