Video Games
1992: Nintendo and Sony reach an agreement on a standard for CD-ROM players for a new video game system that can play Super NES cartridges and CD-ROMs. Nintendo will license all game software, and Sony will license, through Nintendo, all other software types.
1994: Microsoft announces plans to buy Intuit (maker of Quicken) for US$1.5 billion stock swap.
1996: Acclaim Entertainment releases the Mortal Kombat Trilogy video game for the PlayStation in the US.
1997: DMA Design releases the Grand Theft Auto game for the PC in the UK.
1998: At the Microprocessor Forum, Advanced Micro Devices gives details of its K7 processor. Initial speed will be 500 MHz, with 200 MHz system bus, multiprocessing capability, and 512 kB to 8 MB secondary cache.
