1990: Nintendo sends letters to its licensees, informing them that they are now free to manufacture their own game cartridges for the Nintendo Entertainment System, and to publish games on competitors' consoles.
1991: The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Simpsons TV show. A character plays a Touch of Death martial arts video game in an arcade.
1995: Be introduces the BeBox. It features two 66 MHz PowerPC 603 processors, no Level 2 cache, three PCI and four ISA slots, two MIDI ports, four serial ports, one parallel port, two joystick ports, and stereo input/output ports. Prices start at US$1600 for a bare system without memory, disk, keyboard, or monitor.
