1987: In Japan, NEC releases the PC Engine video game system. It features 64 kb VRAM, 7.16-MHz 8-bit HuC6280A CPU, 384x256 pixel graphics, 16-bit HuC6260 and HuC6270A graphics processors, 256 colors of 512 palette, 64 sprites, games on HUCards with up to 512 kb.
1998: Microsoft re-releases Office 97 Service Release 2. This update had been released a month ago, but distribution was suspended to correct occasional improper installations.
1998: Lucas Arts releases the Grim Fandango video game.
2001: Microsoft releases Works Suite 2002 software package. It includes Word 2002, Encarta Encyclopedia Standard 2002, Money 2002 Standard, Picture It! Photo 2002, Streets & Trips 2002, and Works 6.0. Price is US$109.
2001: In Los Angeles, California, Nintendo hosts a Hollywood party to celebrate the opening of Cube Clubs nationwide. The locations allow players to try out GameCube games prior to the launch of the system.
2002: Nintendo releases a dial-up modem and a network adapter for the GameCube. Price of each is US$35.
2002: The European Union fines Nintendo 168 million euros (about US$147 million) for colluding with game distributors to sell products at different prices in different parts of Europe, in violation of European Union treaties.
