1985: Steve Jobs informs John Sculley of five Apple employees would will resign to join him in his new company. They are Bud Tribble, Dan'l Lewin, George Crow, Rich Page, and Susan Barnes.
1988: IBM introduces the IBM PS/2 Model 30 286, using the AT-bus. It features a 10 MHz 286, 512 kB RAM, VGA, and 20 MB hard drive.
1993: Acclaim Entertainment releases the Mortal Kombat video game for the Super NES, Genesis, Game Boy, and Game Gear game systems in the US. Price for the Super NES is US$74.99, for the Game Boy US$34.99. Acclaim spent US$10 million on pre-release marketing, declaring the day "Mortal Monday".
1999: In Japan, Sony announces the official name of the successor to the PlayStation is PlayStation 2. The system will be released first in Japan on March 4, priced at 39,800 yen (about US$370). It will include a DualShock 2 Analog Controller, 8 MB Memory Card, 24x CD-ROM / 4x DVD ROM drive. Future plans for the system include Web site browsing, new game downloads to a hard drive, downloads of music and films, and interactive online versions of TV game shows.

2002: The Fox Broadcasting Company airs The Fairly Oddparents TV show in the US. A personal computer appears.

In an arena battle, a giant ape throws barrels down steps and ladders, a reference to the Donkey Kong video game.
